Nainital, which is nestled amidst the Kumaon Hills, is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Uttarakhand. This hill station is built around a uniquely mango shaped lake known as the 'Naini Lake'(hence the name, Nainital. Tal means 'lake' in local language.). Nainital is also known as City of Lakes, other lakes that you can visit near Nainital are the Sariyatal Lake, Bhimtal Lake, and Khurpatal Lake. Nainital is situated at an altitude of 1938 km above sea level and has a pleasant climate all year round. Nainital has quite a few hilltops that offer extraordinary views of the city and its surrounding regions to the visitors. These include Naina Peak, Tiffin Top, and Snow View Point, all of which are very popular tourist spots. Nainital is something to offer to each visitor whether you are going for the climate, adventure, food, lakes or shopping.

Ranikhet is a beautiful cantonment town which was developed by the British and is entirely managed by the Indian National Army and serves as a home to the Kumaon Regiment. Ranikhet is located in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. Ranikhet was once also proposed to be the summer capital of the British Government instead of Shimla but things did not work out. Ranikhet due to its high altitude enjoys a cool weather throughout the year and gets plenty of snowfall during the winters. The summer months start from late March till the end of May. Most tourist know it for its immensely pleasant summers but it is accessible throughout the year. Most famous place to visit are Chaubatia, Sunset Point, Golf Ground Ranikhet, Jhula Devi Temple and Haidakhan Babaji Temple.
