Haridwar literally translates to gateway to God. Haridwar is place where the river Ganges enters in plain areas north India after flowing 250 kms from its origin Gangotri Glacier(Which is know as Gaukukh). Haridwar city is an ancient and it is one of the most sacred cities in India. Most notably, once every twelve years it is the venue for the Kumbh Mela, the world's largest festival. Haridwar is about 200 km from Delhi, the capital of India and is well connected by road and rail network from all parts of India.
